A well-run tournament brings players back year after year. A badly run one is remembered for the wrong reasons. Use this checklist to stay on the right side.
Four weeks out
- Decide the format: knockout, league or a mix.
- Block consecutive slots at the venue for the whole day.
- Open registrations and collect team lists.
One week out
- Publish the fixture list and match timings.
- Confirm umpires, scorers and first-aid cover.
- Arrange water, shade and a simple scoreboard.
On the day
Arrive an hour early, brief captains on the house rules and keep matches to time. Announce results promptly and thank the venue staff.
