Synthetic pitches behave consistently, which changes the balance between bat and ball. Here is how to adapt.
For batters
Expect true bounce and trust the line. Front-foot drives and pulls are safer than on uneven matting wickets.
For bowlers
Swing is limited, so rely on changes of pace, yorkers and cutters. Spinners get grip on older mats but little turn on new ones.
For fielders
The outfield is quick. Attack the ball and back up throws, because misfields cost extra runs.
